PhD Fellowship Opportunities

PhD Studentship opportunities available!

This PhD student will be working with Professor Dieter Wolke in the Research of Children and Adults born Preterm (RECAP) project. (www.recap-preterm.eu). This PhD student will be working in collaboration with partners around Europe and beyond to combine data to conduct analysis on the mental health, neuro-cognitive, socio-emotional functioning and economic adult outcomes and their effects on health-related quality of life and participation in society after very preterm birth or maternal depression.

The project will determine the variations of neonatal treatment (e.g. medical, parenting) and environmental risk and protective factors (e.g. schooling, bullying, friendship support) in childhood on adult outcomes across cohorts. Further questions are whether outcome after preterm birth has improved over the last decades. Do the findings allow the prediction of future outcomes in preterm children born today or what are the factors that help at risk preterm children beat the odds (resiliency)? As part of the studentship contrasting developmental models will be tested.
